The Line: -- Over/Under:
Russian tennis superstar, Daniil Medvedev has made it into the quarterfinals of the 2019 ATP Rotterdam Open in the Netherlands. At this stage of the tournament, Daniil Medvedev is set to play against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga from France.
Daniil Medvedev won his previous match with style as he beat Fernando Verdasco in straight sets. During the win, Medvedev returned serve exceptionally well as he won 47% of his return points which allowed him to break Verdasco’s serve on 4 occasions. In addition to returning well, Medvedev also had a good serving match as he won 90% of his service games. It has been an exceptional 2019 season for Daniil Medvedev as he finished second at the ATP Brisbane International while also winning the ATP Sofia Open last week. Medvedev is in exceptional form as he enters this match which will make him very tough to beat.
On the other side of the coin, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won his previous match against Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets. It was a complete performance by Tsonga as he won 100% of his service games while breaking his opponents serve on 3 occasions to set up the victory. This is expected to be a very tough match for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga as he is playing an opponent who is in very good form and high on confidence.
Daniil Medvedev and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have played twice in the past with both players winning on one occasion. The most recent match between these two players was earlier this season at the Brisbane International where Daniil Medvedev won in straight sets.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Daniil Medvedev to win this match. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has played well this tournament but it is hard to see him compete against Medvedev. Medvedev is one of the hottest players on the circuit and looks impossible to beat. With his confidence high following his ATP title win in Sofia, I see Daniil Medvedev winning this match and making the semifinals of the tournament.
