Daria Gavrilova and Agnieszka Radwanska meet Friday in the semifinals of the 2017 Connecticut Open.

Daria Gavrilova is coming off a straight sets win over Kirsten Flipkens that took 18 games to decide. In the victory, Gavrilova won 67 percent of her first serve points and 57 percent of her second serve points. Gavrilova has won her last five sets and is coming off a match in which she wasn’t broken once. Gavrilova has had trouble holding serve in her last several matches, so her latest victory should inspire some confidence moving forward. Gavrilova hopes to make her second final appearance of the season and her third for her career. Gavrilova has won five of her last seven semifinal appearances. Gavrilova has won four of her last five matches on hard court.

Agnieszka Radwanska is coming off a straight sets win over Shuai Peng that took 21 games to decide. In the victory, Radwanska won 69 percent of her first serve points and 45 percent of her second serve points. Radwanska is trying to find some consistency this season after taking a lot of time off and having hit and miss results. This is Radwanska’s second semifinal appearance of the season and first since Sydney, so this is a chance for her to kind of get things back on track before the US Open. Radwanska has split her last six semifinal appearances. Radwanska hopes to make her second final appearance of the season and her 29th of her career. Radwanska has won five of her last eight matches on hard court.

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

It’s been a while since Radwanska has been in Radwanska type form and she hasn’t played as much tennis this season as she usually has, so conditioning could be an issue here. However, Gavrilova has had issues with her second serve as of late, and that’s where an elite returner in Radwanska can win the match.

I like Radwanska to reach her second final of the season.

Pick:
Agnieszka Radwanska
