Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

We have reached the stage of the ATP Rogers Cup in Toronto where only 16 players remain. In this round, Canadian superstar, Denis Shapovalov, will take on Robin Haase from the Netherlands. This is a big chance for both players to make it deep in one of the biggest ATP tournaments and as a result, both players will not take this opportunity lightly. I expect lots of determination from both of the players involved in this match.

Denis Shapovalov is the home crowd favorite and has the best chance of winning this tournament for the Canadians. Historically there have not been many successful Canadians at the Rogers Cup so this run by Denis Shapovalov is a big deal for the crowd. As far as form is concerned, the Canadian superstar has looked very convincing as he has won both his matches in straight sets. Furthermore, both these wins were over quality opponents so this shows that Denis Shapovalov is in very good form. This will be another challenge for Denis Shapovalov and it will be interesting to see if he can rise to the occasion once more for the fans.

On the other side of the court, Robin Haase will look to end the party and eliminate Denis Shapovalov. The Dutch player has looked very good as he has beaten the likes of Kei Nishikori to get to this stage. This is a great chance for Robin Haase to make it the quarterfinals of a tournament and he will feel that he is in good enough form to win. The big factor that Robin Haase will need to deal with is the home fans and if he can shut that out, he has a good chance of winning this match.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to side with Denis Shapovalov winning. I think the Canadian will use the home crowd to get momentum behind him and get the win.

Pick:
Denis Shapovalov
