Kyle Edmund vs Diego Schwartzman
|Date & Time||Monday August 6, 2018, 6:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: -- Over/Under:
The opening round at the Rogers Cup in Toronto should produce a great tennis match as the Argentine superstar, Diego Schwartzman takes on the top-ranked player from the United Kingdom, Kyle Edmund. Both players are very exciting to watch and capable of exceptional tennis so we can expect a very high-quality tennis match.
Diego Schwartzman last played at the ATP German Open where he was eliminated far before he should have been. It has been a poor few months for the Argentine as he has really struggled to find top form, especially after his impressive French Open campaign. That hard court season is returning and Diego Schwartzman traditionally has done well on this surface so that should be a boost for the Argentine. The Rogers Cup is a big event for players of the level of Diego Schwartzman since it is one of the biggest non-grand slam events on the calendar and winning will be very noteworthy. This is a tough first round draw for Diego Schwartzman and it will be interesting to see how he performs against a top player like Kyle Edmund.
Kyle Edmund will feel that he should win this match. The UK based player was unlucky in his last tournament as he drew Andy Murray early which resulted in him being eliminated. This will be a great chance for the young player to make a deep run since a first-round win should see him get some easy games for a few rounds. This will not be an easy first-round match since Diego Schwartzman is an exceptional play but if Kyle Edmund plays to the best of his ability, he should be good enough to win.
While both players are very good to watch and full of talent, there can only be one winner and I think that the winner will be Kyle Edmund. The English player is very talented and I think he is playing the better tennis at this moment in time. Expect this game to be hard fought and go all three set since both players are good enough to win a set.
