Dominic Thiem and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez meet in the second round of the 2016 French Open.

Dominic Thiem is coming off a four set win over Inigo Cervantes that took 36 games to decide. In the victory, Thiem won 86 percent of his first serve points and 54 percent of his second serve points. Thiem really dialed in after dropping the first set, and he dominated the match when he got his first serve in play. The problem is Thiem got just 51 percent of his first serves and had 34 unforced errors to 42 winners. Thiem is obviously in good form after just winning the Nice Open, but he clearly has to play better in order to make a deeper run in this tournament. Thiem looks for his third straight third round appearance in a grand slam.

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez is coming off a four set win over Thiemo de Bakker that took 45 games to decide. In the victory, Garcia-Lopez won 71 percent of his first serve points and 61 percent of his second serve points. Garcia-Lopez was in control of majority of the match and was able to dig deep to win a fourth set tiebreak. Garcia-Lopez clearly isn’t the player he once was, but he did make the semifinals of the Bucharest Open and does have three wins over top-10 players since 2014. If Garcia-Lopez can get 60 percent or more of his first serves in play, he could have a shot to pull off the upset here. Garcia-Lopez has reached the third round of a grand slam in three of his last five appearances.

This will be the first time these two have ever met on the tennis court.

Thiem is one of the hotter players in the tournament with his title last weekend. Garcia-Lopez is a player who is past his prime and no longer a consistent threat to some of the better players on the tour.

This may go four sets, but Thiem will come out with the victory.
