Dusan Lajovic vs Lorenzo Sonego 4/19/19 Monte Carlo Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Italian qualifier, Lorenzo Sonego has made the quarterfinals of the 2019 ATP Monte Carlo Open. At this stage of the tournament, Lorenzo Sonego will face Dušan Lajović from Serbia.

It has been an exceptional tournament for Dušan Lajović as he has already defeated the number 16 seed, David Goffin, and the number 4 seed, Dominic Thiem. Dušan Lajović beat Dominic Thiem in the previous round. It was an impressive display by Lajović as he received serve exceptionally well. Dušan Lajović won 53%  of his service points which allowed him to win over 50% of Dominic Thiem’s service games. Dušan Lajović is yet to lose a set in this tournament and the Serb is looking very confident.

On the other side of the coin, Lorenzo Sonego has also been having an outstanding tournament. Sonego entered this event as a qualifier but has now made the final 8. In his previous match, Lorenzo Sonego defeated Cameron Norrie in straight sets. Lorenzo Sonego broke Cameron Norrie’s serve on 5 occasions while winning 90% of his service games to establish a comfortable result. Lorenzo Sonego has already beaten the likes of Karen Khachanov so he will be very confident about his chances of winning this contest.

This will be the first time that Lorenzo Sonego and Dušan Lajović will be playing each other at an ATP event.

Dušan Lajović and Lorenzo Sonego have both had exceptional tournaments and both players have far exceeded their expected results. Both players could win this match but I am going to side with Dušan Lajović to win. Dušan Lajović has much more experience when compared to Lorenzo Sonego as the Serb has played big matches like the Davis Cup final. Sonego is a younger and less experienced player and I see that being the difference in this match.

Pick:
Dušan Lajović
