No.2 seed, Karolina Pliskova, meets Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinal of the 2020 WTA Dubai Open. Who will book their spot in the semifinals?
Elena Rybakina put on a solid performance against Katerina Siniakova, beating the Czech in straight sets. Rybakina's ability to play the big points was superb, she saved 6 out of 8 match points, and she was able to convert 5 out of 7. Rybakina has already knocked out Sofia Kenin in the tournament and now she looks to book her spot in the semifinals, but she is going to have to up her level if she wants to stand a chance of beating the incredibly strong and experienced Karolina Pliskova.
Karolina Pliskova showed us why she is one of the more dangerous players on tour. Pliskova beat Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets, absolutely destroying her 6-1/6-2. Pliskova's serve was as amazing as ever, not even allowing Mladenovic to see a break point. Pliskova has a lot of experience and knows how to win titles and play big matches. Pliskova will be looking to win here in Dubai, and with the way she played her second-round match, she has a real chance of doing so.
This will be the first meeting between both players, and unfortunately for Rybakina, the No.2 seed will come out and dominate this match from the start. Pliskova has more experience, is more motivated, and is the much more consistent player out of the two. Expect this to be done in straight sets.
Karolina Pliskova to win.
