Belinda Bencic and Elina Svitolina meet in the semifinals of the 2019 tennis Dubai.

Belinda Bencic is coming off a three sets win over Simona Halep that took 28 games to decide. In the victory, Bencic won 52 percent of her first serve points and 50 percent of her second serve points. Bencic won 51 percent of her total service points and converted on seven of 14 break points. Bencic came back from a set down to earn her 15th career win over a top-10 player, and she’s now produced a combined 16 breaks in her last three matches. Bencic has to serve better to increase her chances of advancing to the final, but her return has been on point and she finds ways to grind out the key points that make the difference in a victory. Bencic hopes to make her first final appearance since last years Luxembourg Open and her eighth career final appearance. Bencic has won six of her last seven matches on outdoor hard court.

Elina Svitolina is coming off a straight sets win over Carla Suarez-Navarro that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, Svitolina won 73 percent of her first serve points and 52 percent of her second serve points. Svitolina won 63 percent of her total service points and converted on five of her 10 break points. Svitolina has won all five sets this tournament and has produced a combined 14 breaks during that span. As long as Svitolina’s return is working the way it has, she has to be considered the favorite to win this tournament. Svitolina hopes to win four matches in a single tournament for the second time in her last three tries. Svitolina hopes to make her first final appearance since last years WTA Finals and the 16th final appearance of her career. Svitolina has won nine of her last 11 matches on outdoor hard court.

These two have played once, which was in Charleston of 2014, a match Bencic won in three sets. The match took 30 games to be decided.

Bencic is a gamer who plays with confidence and can will herself to victory when she’s not playing her best in a certain area. Despite a hit or miss serve, Bencic can win this match. However, Svitolina is playing at such a level that you don’t want to step in front of her. Svitolina has all of her game working at the moment and has been winning her matches rather easily.

Svitolina makes her 16th career final.

Pick:
Elina Svitolina
