Elina Svitolina and Sofia Kenin meet in the third round of the 2019 tennis Cincinnati Open.

Elina Svitolina is coming off a straight sets win over Elise Mertens that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, Svitolina won 74 percent of her first serve points and 63 percent of her second serve points. Svitolina won 71 percent of her total service points and converted on four of her eight break points. Svitolina got 69 percent of her first serves in play, saved both of her break points and hit six aces. Svitolina looks to win two matches for the third time in her last four tournaments. Svitolina hopes to make the quarterfinal of the Cincinnati Open for the fourth time in her career. Svitolina has won three of her last four matches on hard court.

Sofia Kenin is coming off a straight sets win over Zarina Diyas that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, Kenin won 77 percent of her first serve points and 73 percent of her second serve points. Kenin won 76 percent of her total service points and converted on four of her 12 break points. Kenin got 67 percent of her first serves in play and saved all five of her break points. Seven of Kenin’s last eight wins have been decided in straight sets. Kenin looks to make a quarterfinal of a Premier 5 tournament for the second time in her career. Kenin has five career wins over top-10 players, with three of those wins coming this year. Kenin has won seven of her last nine matches on hard court.

These two have split the previous two matches, as Kenin won this year in Toronto in straight sets, and Svitolina won this year in Indian Wells in three sets.

Kenin has been a giant killer all year long and seems to play her best the bigger the stage or the better the opponent. Kenin also just beat Svitolina less than a week ago in straight sets, saving nine of her 11 break points and getting 73 percent of her first serve in play. This time Kenin will have the American crowd behind her to feed into her already feisty and aggressive play.

I like Kenin to reach the quarters.

Pick:
Sofia Kenin
