Tennis | Fernando Verdasco vs Fabio Fognini
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Fernando Verdasco is turning back the years in Sweden. The Spanish veteran eliminated second seed and fellow Spaniard, Pablo Carreño Busta, in the quarterfinals and now has found himself in the final 4. Verdasco will be taking on the 3rd seed, Fabio Fognini from Italy. Both players will feel that they can win this tournament so we should be able to witness a great tennis match.

Fabio Fognini has looked good in this tournament and has won all his matches with comfort. The 31-year-old is the 15th best tennis player in the world and will feel that he is good enough to challenge for the top prizes in tennis. It has been a decent few months for Fabio Fognini as he managed to make the 4th round in the French Open and the 3rd Round at Wimbledon. These performances will please the Italian and he will look to build on that. This will not be an easy game for Fabio Fognini since he is facing a very experienced player in Fernando Verdasco.

On the other side of the coin, Fernando Verdasco will look to use his experience to win this match. The Spaniard has been in this position many times before and it will be no surprise for him. Verdasco has been looking very strong all tournament and this was best shown in his last match where he eliminated the number 2 seed in straight sets. Fernando Verdasco has managed to dominate the games he has played so he will be fresh and ready to go for this clash. While Fabio Fognini is ranked higher, Fernando Verdasco has been playing some of his best tennis in this tournament and I expect the Spaniard to win.

As far as betting is concerned, Fernando Verdasco is only a slight favorite to win so we should place a bet on him. This wager has great value so I would suggest a larger size to utilize the price we are getting. In addition to that, I am expecting this game to go all three sets. Both players are good enough to win a set so we should see a 3 set match. As a result, I also suggest the over 2.5 sets bet.

Pick:
Fernando Verdasco
