Italian tennis superstar, Fabio Fognini is set to play at the 2019 ATP German Open in Hamburg. Fognini will begin his campaign against Julian Lenz from Germany.

Julian Lenz gained entry into this tournament by winning both of his matches in the qualifying event. Lenz had to fight hard to win both matches as the German took 3 sets in both fixtures. This is expected to be a big match for Julian Lenz as it will be the first time that he will be playing a full ATP tournament in 2019. Lenz is mostly seen in Challenger and ITF tournament. This is expected to be a very tough match for Julian Lenz as he is playing against the number 3 seed.

Looking at Fabio Fognini, the Italian superstar has been in good form Fognini. Fabio Fognini had solid Wimbledon and French Open campaigns as he finished those two tournaments with an overall win rate of over 70%. It has been a hugely successful 2019 season for Fabio Fognini as he broke into the top 10. Fognini’s biggest accomplishment this season was winning the Monte Carlo Masters where he defeated the likes of Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev. The German Open has always been a strong tournament for Fabio Fognini as he made the final in 2015 and won in 2013.

This will be the first time that Fabio Fognini and Julian Lenz will be playing each other at an ATP event.

Julian Lenz is playing in his home country and that should give the German player a boost. That being said, I see Fabio Fognini comfortably winning this match. Fognini has been outstanding in 2019 and his record on clay is very impressive. Fognini has beaten the likes of Nadal on clay this season and he is looking in great form. Fabio Fognini has always done well at the German Open and I see him being too strong for Julian Lenz in this match.
