Fabio Fognini vs Jurgen Zopp 2018 Swiss Open Tennis Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Italian tennis superstar, Fabio Fognini, won his 7th ATP singles title a few days ago as he beat French player, Richard Gasquet, in the final of the Swedish Open. With that victory in the bag, Fognini will now head to Switzerland to play the ATP Swiss Open where he will be the top-seeded player. In his opening round, Fabio Fognini will take on Jurgen Zopp from Estonia. Both players will feel that they can win this match so we should get a great tennis match.

Jurgen Zopp qualified into this tournament via a qualifying event where he was very impressive. The Estonian followed that by winning his round of 32 match where he beat a higher seeded player from Germany. It has been a good week for the qualifier as he has impressed many people in the tennis world. This will be the biggest test for Jurgen Zopp and if he can manage to do well, he will be very happy. Zopp is the top-rated Estonian player and he has represented his country on the big stage in the Davis Cup so he should be familiar with playing top players. This will be a great chance for Jurgen Zopp to get a win since his opponent will be fatigued having only played a final a few days ago.

On the other side of the coin, Fabio Fognini will look to use his good form and attempt to win another ATP event. The Italian has been playing very well and he will feel that he has a great chance of winning this tournament. On paper, Fognini is the better match and if fatigue is not an issue, I think he can do very well. This is a great chance for the Italian to win back to back ATP titles and it will be interesting to see if he has the endurance to achieve such an accomplishment.

All in all, I am going to predict that Fabio Fognini will win this match. The Italian is the better player and I don’t see him slipping up considering his top form.
