In form Cristian Garin meets Federico Delbonis in the first-round of the 2020 Rio de Janeiro Open.
Cristian Garin has had an incredible start to 2020. Garin has already won one title this year, beating Diego Schwartzman in the ATP250 Cordoba Open. Garin's favourite surface is clay, and in the last year or so he has started to gain some momentum on the dirt. Garin is very determined, he has a great mindset, and he is tremendously talented. Garin can have more success here in Rio de Janeiro and I am pretty sure that if he comes into this tournament, playing the same way he did in Cordoba, then he could challenge for the title. Will he be able to overcome a tough opponent in Federico Delbonis however in his first-round encounter?
Federico Delbonis is a very experienced player who knows how to win matches in these sorts of tournaments. Delbonis is able to confuse opponents and win easy points through his natural ability to play with his left hand. Delbonis' left serve and forehand allow him to move opponents around the court in ways they are not used to. Delbonis has been very good in the last few weeks, but as it always seems to happen in his career, he eventually falls and his consistency diminishes. Will he be able to start out well here in Rio or will an in-form Garin get the better of him?
This will be the first meeting between both players and it could end up being an interesting one. Garin should win the match, but if he does not come in and perform as good as he did in Argentina, he might fall against Delbonis who can play very well when confident. However, if Garin is confident and backs himself, he should win.
Cristian Garin to win.
