The Line: -- Over/Under:
Filip Krajinovic and Borna Coric meet in the third round of the 2019 tennis Australian Open.
Filip Krajinovic is coming off a straight sets win over Evgeny Donskoy that took 36 games to decide. In the victory, Krajinovic won 70 percent of her first serve points and 56 percent of her second serve points. Krajinovic won 66 percent of his total service points and saved seven of his 10 break points. Krajinovic has really been hitting his spots through his first two matches and has combined for 89 winners in his first eight sets. Krajinovic has a chance to win three matches in a single tournament for the first time since Dubai of last year. Krajinovic also has a chance to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time in his career. Krajinovic has won five of his last seven matches on hard court.
Borna Coric is coming off a straight sets win over Marton Fucsovics that took 29 games to decide. In the victory, Coric won 79 percent of her first serve points and 60 percent of her second serve points. Coric won 70 percent of his total service points and saved four of his five break points. Coric has yet to drop a set this tournament and has hit a combined 72 winners in a little over four hours of match play. Coric has to be riding a wave of confidence at the moment considering these are the first two matches he’s ever won at the Australian Open in his career. Coric hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the second time in his career. Coric has split his last six matches on hard court.
There’s no previous matches between these two players.
Both of these players are hitting their spots with consistency, so we’re sure to see a lot of winners in this match. The difference for me in this match is the mental toughness and experience of Coric, who has been on the big stage and had some success on the grand slam stage. Coric started to breakthrough at the US Open last year and his previous early exits had a lot to do with tough draws. Krajinovic is very green on the grand slam stage and could very well get tight in key moments.
I like Coric to muscle through in this match.
