Fiona Ferro vs. Polona Hercog 4/13/19 Samsung Open Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Slovenian tennis player, Polona Hercog has made it into the semifinals of the 2019 WTA Samsung Open. At this stage of the tournament, Hercog will face Fiona Ferro from France.

Polona Hercog had a dominant win in the previous round as she beat her opponent in straight sets. Hercog returned serve exceptionally well during the win as she won 55% of her receiving points which allowed her to win 5 return games. Hercog also served well during her win as she won 78% of her service games. It has been a very strong tournament for Polona Hercog as she beat the number 2 seed in the opening round. Hercog entered this tournament in good form after a strong Miami Open and she seems to be maintaining her winning momentum.

On the other side of the coin, Fiona Ferro won her previous match in straight sets against Stefanie Vögele. It was a close match where Ferro won the opening set 7-5 and the second set via a tiebreaker. Leading up to this tournament, Fiona Ferro looked in poor form as she failed to qualify for the Miami Open and the Indian Wells Open. Ferro is still only 22 and new on the WTA scene but she has proven her ability in this tournament by beating the likes of Alison Van Uytvanck. This match will be tough for Ferro as she lacks her opponent’s experience in playing in WTA semifinals.

This will be the first time that Polona Hercog and Fiona Ferro will be playing each other at a WTA event.

Fiona Ferro has impressed throughout this tournament but I see her losing this match. Hercog has been in incredible touch throughout this tournament and in the US season and I see her being a stronger player than Ferro. Hercog is more experienced and I see her winning this match and making the final of the Samsung Open.
