Kuznetsova vs. Muguruza

The Line: -- Over/Under:
Garbine Muguruza and Svetlana Kuznetsova meet Friday in the third match of the tennis 2016 WTA Championships.
Garbine Muguruza is coming off a straight sets loss to Agnieszka Radwanska that took 22 games to decide. In the losing effort, Muguruza won 48 percent of her first serve points and 52 percent of her second serve points. Muguruza continues her struggles with her service game and return, and she looks like somebody who could use a break from these last few months. The return has hurt Muguruza the most, as she’s won just 67 of 159 return points in her first two matches. Back in June Muguruza made a strong case to be the top player in the world. However, this clearly isn’t the same Muguruza and it’s become tougher and tougher to watch. Muguruza has lost five of her last seven matches on hard court.
Svetlana Kuznetsova is coming off a three set win over Karolina Pliskova that took 30 games to decide. In the victory, Kuznetsova won 58 percent of her first serve points and 57 percent of her second serve points. Kuznetsova has been the clear surprise of the tournament with two victories despite being a last minute addition after just winning the Kremlin Cup. Kuznetsova has now won her last six matches overall and has won 12 of her last 16 sets played. Kuznetsova is simply finding ways to get the job done and has won 105 of 204 return points in her first two matches. Kuznetsova has all of a sudden gone from being the looked over player in the tournament to a real threat. Kuznetsova has a chance to make it out of the round robin stages of the WTA Finals for the first time in her career. Kuznetsova has won 10 of her last 13 matches on hard court.
These two have played twice in the past and the matches have been split down the middle. Muguruza beat Kuznetsova n this year's French Open and Svetlana won her match in the 2015 Madrid Masters. This will be the first time these two meet on hard court.
You guys know the deal with Muguruza, as she’s unbackable in her current form against other top players and hasn’t shown any progress to change that theory. Muguruza looks like somebody who is ready for the offseason to clear her head and find some needed confidence. Meanwhile, Kuznetsova is oozing with confidence and seems to be enjoying herself on the big stage.
These players are heading in opposite directions. Give me Kuznetsova for another victory.
