Hugo Dellien meets Pedro Martinez in the first-round of the 2020 Rio de Janeiro Open.
Hugo Dellien had a great 2019 season. Dellien won a few titles on the challenger tour, but he also made a little bit of a name for himself on the main tour. Dellien has consistently appeared in big tournaments and put on a show for the crowd. Dellien has an amazing game, especially on clay. Dellien is fast, determined and has nothing to lose. Dellien nearly upset Daniil Medvedev in the first-round of the 2019 US Open and this performance filled him with confidence that he belongs here and if he works hard, he will be one of the main guys on the tour.
Pedro Martinez has had a good start to 2020. Martinez was able to make it to the second-round of the 2020 Australian Open and was able to show some good tennis against Daniil Medvedev in Melbourne. Martinez is more comfortable on clay, and it will be interesting to see whether he will begin to make a name for himself on the ATP Tour or whether he will go back to the challenger level. He has the game to stay, but it is all about the hard work.
This will be the second meeting between both players, with Dellien having won their prior encounter. This match is really Dellien's to lose. Dellien is the better player, has more experience, and all in all is incredible on clay. Dellien will come out and want to have a great start to 2020.
Hugo Dellien to win.
