India -2000 / Afghanistan +1000
In the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, India will play against Afghanistan at the Rose Bowl.
Afghanistan are yet to win a game in this world cup and have zero points after 5 games.
Afghanistan suffered a crushing defeat in their previous match as they lost by 150 runs to England. The bowling was very poor from Afghanistan as they conceded 387 runs in their 50 overs. Rashid Khan was very poor in the match as he conceded over 100 runs in his spell. In addition to the bowling, the fielding was also very poor as they dropped multiple catches which cost them dearly.
The batting showed promise from Afghanistan as Hashmatullah Shahidi (76) and Rahmat Shah (46) both batted very well. The total of 397 was always too much for Afghanistan but the team showed some determination with the bat and that would please the setup.
On the other side of the coin, India remain unbeaten after 4 games. India have won 3 games and 1 game was washed out. As it currently stands, India have 7 points.
India were outstanding in the last match as they defeated Pakistan by 89 runs. Rohit Sharma batted extremely well for India as the opening batsmen scored 140 runs in 113 balls. Virat Kohli also contributed well by scoring 77 runs in 66 balls. India were without Shikhar Dhawan but the batsman was not missed as KL Rahul contributed well.
The bowling was led by Kuldeep Yadav who bowled multiple unplayable balls to dismiss key Pakistan batsman. Vijay Shankar and Hardik Pandya also contributed with wickets. The only concern for India will be Bhuveneshwar Kumar who picked up an injury during the match. Kumar is expected to miss this match but with Shami in the squad, India will be well equipped.
The Rose Bowl is a good ground for batsman so the winning side must score a big total. The dimension of the Rose Bowl are large so the teams will look to run plenty of doubles. The spin bowlers will also enjoy the large dimensions of the Rose Bowl.
Afghanistan are a very impressive team and while they lack batting depth, their bowling has some great potential. That being said, I don’t think Afghanistan will have the quality to compete with India. India are unbeaten and have already beaten top teams like Australia and South Africa. India were supreme in their victory against Pakistan and I see them easily beating Afghanistan.
