Jack Sock and Jared Donaldson meet Tuesday in the round of 16 in the 2017 Miami Open.

Jack Sock is coming off a straight sets win over Jiri Vesely that took 22 games to decide. In the victory, Sock won 79 percent of his first serve points and 59 percent of his second serve points. Sock continues to roll this season in what has quickly become his breakthrough year, and he has a chance to make the quarterfinals for the third time in his last four events. Sock is making far less unforced errors as of late and has been very aggressive and successful with his service game. Also, despite a heavy workload recently, Sock should be well rested for this match considering he’s played less than three full sets this tournament due to the withdraw in the Yoshihito Nishioka match. Sock has won 12 of his last 14 matches on hard court.

Jared Donaldson didn’t have to play a match in the round of 32 after Milos Raonic withdrew. Donaldson has still played four matches to get to this point and has been rather impressive doing so, as he racked up strong wins over Kyle Edmund and Mischa Zverev. Donaldson won 81 percent of his first serve points in his last match and won 47 percent of his return points. At 20 years old, Donaldson has been considered one of the rising Americans to snatch the torch, and an upset win here would certainly earn attention. Donaldson hopes to make the quarterfinals of a big ATP event for the first time. Donaldson has won seven of his last eight matches on hard court.

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

This could be a fun match between two rising Americans who are considered the future of tennis for the country. Donaldson has the ability to be a top-10 player in due time and seems to like the big stage. However, Sock is far more seasoned right now and is playing way too good to bet against. You can see Sock maturing before your very eyes and it’s becoming quite fascinating to see.

In the first meeting between these two, Sock will get the victory to move to the quarters.
