Lukas Rosol vs. Jack Sock
|Date & Time||Wednesday January 20, 2016, 10:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Jack Sock -210 / Lukas Rosol +175 -- Over/Under:
Jack Sock and Lukas Rosol meet Wednesday in the second round of the 2016 Australian Open.
Jack Sock is coming off a tough five-set match over Taylor Fritz. In the victory, Sock got 54 percent of his first serves in play, won 74 percent of those points and hit 16 aces. Sock also had 45 winners and 42 unforced errors. Sock was up-and-down throughout his performance, as he continues to battle an illness and even twisted his ankle in the opening match. However, Sock finished his last two sets extremely strong and won 11 of his 16 net points. As long as he’s healthy and what not, Sock will be a tough out due to his quality serve and shotmaking ability. Sock has made it out of the second round of a grand slam four times.
Lukas Rosol is also coming off a five-set victory over Taro Daniel. In the win, Rosol got 59 percent of his first serves in play, won 83 percent of those points and hit 28 aces. Rosol also had 92 winners and 74 unforced errors. Rosol hasn’t had much major success throughout his career, but he does have a strong service game and has beaten three top-10 players since 2011. If Rosol can keep his unforced errors down and serve well, he could pick up a big victory and advance to the third round of the AO for the first time in his career. Rosol has made it out of the second round of a grand slam three times.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
You have to be concerned about Sock’s mental game and his health after what we saw in the opening round. Rosol is capable of an upset if either one of those issues creeps in again. Assuming Sock is at least 75 percent, he should win this match in four sets. He’s the far more talented player here.
