The Line: -- Over/Under:
Jan-Lennard Struff and Roger Federer meet in the second round of the 2018 tennis Swiss Indoors.
Jan-Lennard Struff is coming off a straight sets win over John Millman that took 21 games to decide. In the victory, Struff won 75 percent of his first serve points and 48 percent of his second serve points. Struff won 64 percent of his total service points and produced four breaks on nine break points. Struff lost just 10 of 40 first serve points and bombed 17 aces, a formula that gives him a fighting chance in this match. Struff now hopes to win at least two matches in a single tournament for the sixth time in his last seven tries. Struff has two career wins over top-10 players, on that came this year in the Japan Open. Struff has won six of his last nine matches on indoor hard court.
Roger Federer is coming off a three sets win over Filip Krajinovic that took 28 games to decide. In the victory, Federer won 70 percent of his first serve points and 49 percent of his second serve points. Federer won 59 percent of his total service points and produced six breaks on 14 break points. Federer certainly had his struggles, as he was broken four times, had six double faults and nearly blew the third set. The good news for Federer is that he continues to find ways to win when he’s not playing his best, and he’s an eight-time winner at this event. Shaky or not, you’re not picking against Federer when it comes to winning this tournament. Federer has won 13 straight matches on indoor hard court.
These two have played twice and Federer has won both matches in straight sets. The most recent match was in this years Wimbledon, a match Federer won in 29 games. This will be the first meeting on hard court.
Federer didn’t play his best in his opening match, but he finds ways to win regardless. Federer has now won 13 straight matches on indoor hard court and is an eight-time winner at this event. Struff has just two career wins over top-10 players.
Are you really betting against Federer? Didn’t think so…
I’ll take Federer in straight sets.
