Jarkko Nieminen vs. Lleyton Hewitt 2015 Wimbledon Tennis Pick, Odds, Prediction

Jarkko Nieminen and Lleyton Hewitt meet Monday in the first round of the 2015 Wimbledon.

Jarkko Nieminen looks to turn his season around after losing five of his last seven matches. Nieminem is coming off a Halle loss to Alexander Zverev in straight sets, which has kind of been the story of his season, not being able to string together consistent victories. Nieminen has struggled with his serve and isn’t hitting many winners, often losing long rallies and running out of gas. Nieminen is retiring at the end of the season, so this will be his last Wimbledon. Nieminen has made it out of the first round in five of his last seven major appearances. Nieminen has reached at least the second round in six of his last eight Wimbledon appearances.

Lleyton Hewitt hasn’t been any better, as he’s lost his last five singles matches, which includes a three-set loss to Kevin Anderson in Queens. Hewitt simply isn’t in good form, as he’s making a lot of unforced errors and clearly is somebody who is running out of gas on his career. However, Hewitt has taken four of his last five matches the distance, which has to be a positive. This will be Hewitt’s last Wimbledon, as he plans to retire after the 2016 Australian Open. Hewitt has been bounced in the first round in five of his last nine major appearances. However, a lot of Hewitt’s most major success has come at the Wimbledon, which includes a title back in 2002.

This will be the sixth time these two have played, and Lleyton Hewitt has won all five meetings. The last meeting between these two was in Stockholm back in 2012, and this will be the first time these two have met on grass. This will be the third time these two have played against one another in a major.

Both of these guys are in poor form, however, Hewitt has shown more signs of life and is still the better overall tennis player. Add the fact Hewitt has won every meeting, and I like him to advance.

Lleyton Hewitt -150
