J.Chardy/F.Martin -163 / K.Krawietz/A.Mies +130
In the final of the 2019 French Open Men’s doubles, the French pairing of Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin will compete against Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz from Germany.
Chardy and Martin have been very good throughout this tournament and they fully showed their ability in the semifinals where they defeated the number 3 seeded team in straight sets. Chardy and Martin served exceptionally well throughout their semifinal match as they won 73% of their service points which allowed them to win all of their service games. Chardy and Martin also won 2 return games to secure a relatively comfortable victory. Neither Chardy nor Martin have made it this far at a Grand Slam event in the past but both players are playing at home and the crowd support may be a major factor in their ability to handle the occasion.
On the other side of the coin, Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies also won their previous match in straight sets as they defeated Diego Schwartzman and Guido Pella. Krawietz and Mies received serve strongly throughout their previous match as the German pair won 42% of their receiving point which allowed them to win 4 return games. It has been a very strong tournament for Krawietz and Mies as they have already eliminated the number 4 and number 13 seeds. Over the past few months, Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies have won multiple tournaments including the Challenger Marbella and the Challenger Heilbronn. The French Open is a significantly greater tournament but recent wins will give Krawietz and Mies lots of confidence as they enter this match. It is important to note that the crowd will be against Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies since their opponents are French.
Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies played against Fabrice Martin in the final of Challenger Heilbronn a few weeks ago. Jeremy Chardy was not involved in that match. That particular contest was won in straight sets by Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz.
This is a very difficult match to predict since both teams have been playing very strong tennis throughout this tournament. Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies have played together for a greater amount of time and they should have better chemistry as a team. That being said, Chardy and Martin seem to have gelled very and they have been very impressive throughout this tournament. Both teams have the ability to win but I am going to predict that Fabrice Martin and Jeremy Chardy will win. Martin and Chardy have been playing good tennis and I see the advantage of playing at home being a decisive factor.
