The Line: -- Over/Under:
Jil Teichmann and Karolina Muchova meet in the final of the 2019 tennis Prague Open.
Jil Teichmann is coming off a straight sets win over Barbora Strycova that took 15 games to decide. In the victory, Teichmann won 74 percent of her first serve points and 65 percent of her second serve points. Teichmann won 71 percent of her total service points and converted on four of her seven break points. Teichmann absolutely dominated a top-40 player in the world, which included getting 69 percent of her first serves in play and saving all four of her break points. For somebody who entered qualifying losing 10 of her last 12 matches, this has to be an unreliable moment for the 21-year-old Teichmann, who has had almost no success on the main tour. Teichmann hopes to win her first career singles title in her first ever final appearance. Teichmann has won her last seven matches on clay court.
Karolina Muchova is coming off a straight sets win over Bernarda Pera that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Muchova won 69 percent of her first serve points and 50 percent of her second serve points. Muchova won 62 percent of her total service points and converted on five of her eight break points. Muchova got 62 percent of her first serves in play and saved eight of her 10 break points. Muchova has won eight of her 10 sets to get to this point and gives herself a great chance moving forward if she keeps focusing on a much improved serve. Muchova hopes to win her first career singles title in her first ever final appearance. Muchova has won 10 of her last 12 matches on clay court.
There’s no match history between these two players.
Two players who are in their first ever final, so nerves will be a factor. In the end, I’m siding with Muchova because of the more experience and the better form overall. Muchova didn’t come out of nowhere like Teichmann did, as she made the quarters in Doha and won a match in Miami. Teichmann has done little to nothing recently on the main tour, and while she’s made the final here, it’s hard to trust players to go from zero to 100 so quickly.
Muchova wins her first career title.
