The Citi Open in Washington DC continues with the number 2 seed, John Isner, entering the tournament at the round of 32 stage of the tournament due as he got a bye due to his high seeding. He will be taking on Noah Rubin who is also from the United States. Both players will want to do well in front of their home crowd so I am expecting a great tennis match.
American tennis superstar John Isner has been incredible form and it is amazing to see the player reach these levels at the age of 33. Isner is coming off an ATP title win as he won the ATP Atlanta Open and that was only weeks after he managed to make the semi-finals at Wimbledon. These performances have seen John Isner climb the rankings to number 8 which is incredible considering most had thought that he was past his prime. The US Open is only weeks away and John Isner will feel that he has a chance of winning that tournament so I am expecting him to try and play well in Washington as preparation for Flushing Meadows.
On the other side of the coin, Noah Rubin will try to cause a massive upset. The American won his opening match in straight sets and is looking is decent form. Rubin failed to make it to Wimbledon and I am sure he will want to do better by making it into the US Open so these tournaments will be very important for him. This is going to be very tough for Noah Rubin since he is taking on one of the best players in the world in the form of John Isner.
All in all, I only see one winner and that is John Isner. The world number 8 is in great form and at home so I don’t see him losing to Noah Rubin. We are getting a decent price wagering on John Isner winning so that is the bet which I am going to suggest.
