Julia Goerges and Bianca Andreescu meet in the final of the 2019 tennis ASB Classic.

Julia Goerges is coming off a straight sets win over Viktoria Kuzmova that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Goerges won 76 percent of her first serve points and 58 percent of her second serve points. Goerges won 68 percent of her total service points and converted on three of her 11 break points. Goerges has won eight of her nine sets in this tournament and has a chance to win a title for the second time in her last four tournaments. It’s safe to say that Goerges is playing some of her best tennis in quite some time. Goerges has a chance to win her seventh title of her career and third since 2018. Goerges has won four of her last five final appearances and is 4-5 in her career in final appearances on hard court. Goerges has won six of her last seven matches on hard court.

Bianca Andreescu is coming off a straight sets win over Su-Wei Hsieh that took 18 games to decide. In the victory, Andreescu won 72 percent of her first serve points and 41 percent of her second serve points. Andreescu won 62 percent of her total service points and saved four of her five break points. Andreescu continues what has been an incredible tournament, as she beat Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams and now a top-30 player in Hsieh, putting together easily her best stretch of tennis at just 18 years old. Andreescu is growing in confidence and has all of New Zealand behind her, as she’s become the talk of the tournament. Andreescu has a chance to win her first ever WTA title, and this will be her first final appearance on the main tour. Andreescu has won seven straight matches on hard court.

There’s no previous matches between these two players.

Goerges is obviously the more experienced and more polished player, and who knows how Andreescu will adjust to the nerves of a final. With that said, Andreescu has already beaten better and more accomplished players to get to this point and seems to be getting better with her play. Andreescu has has a clear power advantage over Goerges and can hit through the craftiness the German brings to the table.

The value is once again on Andreescu, as you’re likely going to get her as an underdog.
