Karen Khachanov and Novak Djokovic meet in the final of the 2018 tennis Paris Masters.

Karen Khachanov is coming off a straight sets win over Dominic Thiem that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, Khachanov won 69 percent of his first serve points and 67 percent of his second serve points. Khachanov won 68 percent of his total service points and saved two of his three break points. Khachanov continues to serve at a high level and his last three victories in a row have come against top-10 players. To put it another way, Khachanov has as many wins over top-10 players this tournament as he has for his career. Khachanov seems to be having his breakthrough moment this tournament and is showing he’s worthy of being considered somebody to keep an eye on moving forward. Khachanov has a chance to win his third title of the year and his fourth title of his career. Khachanov is 3-0 in previous career final appearances and all three titles came on hard court. Khachanov has won 10 of his last 11 matches on indoor hard court.

Novak Djokovic is coming off a three sets win over Roger Federer that took 37 games to decide. In the victory, Djokovic won 74 percent of his first serve points and 76 percent of his second serve points. Djokovic won 74 percent of his total service points and couldn’t convert on any of his 12 break points. Djokovic seems to be getting better with his serve each time he takes the court and has managed to win back-to-back three set matches. Djokovic has now won 22 straight matches on the main tour, as his loss in the Laver Cup is considered an exhibition match. Djokovic looks for his fifth title of the year and his 73rd title of his career. Djokovic is 54-17 in career final appearances on hard court and has won 18 of his last 23 final appearances overall. Djokovic has won four of his last five matches on indoor hard court.

These two have played once, which was in this years Wimbledon, a match Djokovic won in straight sets. The match took 28 games to be decided.

Again, Khachanov has earned the right to be considered a live dog in this match considering he’s beaten three straight top-10 players. Just an incredible performance for the young Khachanov, and he should have the attention of everybody. However, Djokovic has won 22 straight matches and has been nothing but money in final appearances over his career. You don’t want to be on the opposite side of Djokovic in final appearances considering he’s won 78.2 percent of his last 23 finals.

Give me Djokovic.
