Karolina Pliskova and Anastasija Sevastova meet in the round of 32 at the 2016 Nottingham Open.

Karolina Pliskova is looking for a bounce back performance after losing four of her last five matches and losing to Shelby Rogers in three sets in the first round of the French Open. Pliskova was one of a handful of top players to be knocked off early in the grand slam, and she would love to regain her form before the Wimbledon begins. Pliskova hasn’t quite looked like herself since making the semifinals in Prague and has kind of struggled with her service game as well. The good news is that Pliskova is comfortable on grass, as she’s won six of her last nine matches on the surface.

Anastasija Sevastova was able to reach the second round of the French Open before getting bounce by Karin Knapp in the second round in straight sets. Sevastova has now won seven of her last 11 matches, which includes making the final in Trnava. Sevastova has to be a little confident heading into this tournament due to her current form despite not having a ton of recent success on the WTA level. Sevastova has three career victories over top-20 players. Sevastova doesn’t have a lot of experience on grass and hasn’t won a match on this surface since 2009 Wimbledon qualifying. Sevastova has lost her last four matches on grass.

These two have played once, which was in the 2015 Moscow Open, a match Sevastova won in straight sets. The match took 22 games to decide.

Pliskova will be eager to get back out on the tennis court after what happened in the French Open. Sevastova also has very little career experience on grass and little overall success on the surface.

Pliskova should win this in straight sets.
