Kateřina Siniaková vs Karolina Pliskova
|Date & Time||Monday August 6, 2018, 3:30 PM (EDT)|
The Line: -- Over/Under:
The women’s singles event of the WTA Rogers Cup will see Czech youngster, Katerina Siniakova, take on the world number 9, Karolina Pliskova also from the Czech Republic. These two players have recently had a rivalry established which included a game in Moscow a few weeks ago where Karolina Pliskova won. There is a lot to play for in this fixture and it will be interesting to see which Czech tennis superstar wins and makes it to the next round.
Katerina Siniakova will feel that this is the perfect chance for revenge and that should make her more determined to win. It has been a good few months for the young player as she has won many titles including the doubles title at Wimbledon. These prior performances will ensure that Katerina Siniakova is full of confidence and it will be interesting to see if she can use that confidence in this match to get a huge win.
On the other side of the court, Karolina Pliskova will feel that she should win. The former world number 1 already beat Katerina Siniakova a few weeks ago and she will feel that she should repeat that performance. It is clear that Karolina Pliskova is an exceptionally talented player and she has shown that over the years. That being said, she has never won a grand slam and with the US Open only months away, I am sure she will be determined to get some wins under her belt so she is ready for the main event.
It will be interesting to see which Czech player wins this installation of the rivalry but I am going to suggest that the winner will be Karolina Pliskova. The world number 9 is an elite player and I don’t think that Katerina Siniakova is at the same level. Outside of the result, expect this match to go all three sets since both players are good enough to win a set of each other.
