Danielle Parhizkaran-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Anderson will be playing Nikoloz Basilashvili in the second round of the 2018 ATP Paris Masters.

Nikoloz Basilashvili and Kevin Anderson played against each other last week at the Vienna Open where Anderson won in 3 sets. It was a very close contest as Nikoloz Basilashvili broke Anderson’s serve to win the first set 6-4. The second set was a very tight contest as neither player lost a service game so it was decided by a tiebreaker which Anderson won. Anderson ran away with the third set as he broke Nikoloz Basilashvili’s serve twice to win 6-3. Kevin Anderson went on to win the Vienna Open but it is safe to say that his match against Nikoloz Basilashvili was his hardest. As it currently stands, Kevin Anderson has a 2-0 record against Nikoloz Basilashvili. The other match between these two players was at this season’s Miami Masters where Anderson won in straight sets.

Both Kevin Anderson and Nikoloz Basilashvili have been in exceptional form in recent times. Since the US Open, Nikoloz Basilashvili has won the ATP China Open while also making a deep run at the ATP Moselle Open in France. On the other side of the court, Kevin Anderson won the Vienna Open last weekend. Since the US Open, Kevin Anderson has made it to the quarterfinals or further in every tournament he has played.

This should be an exceptional tennis match as both Kevin Anderson and Nikoloz Basilashvili are in great form and very exciting to watch. This match will be determined by the player that returns serve better as they are both very strong servers and we should expect only 3 or 4 breaks in the entire match. As far as predicting a winner is concerned, I am going to pick Kevin Anderson. While Nikoloz Basilashvili has been very good lately, Anderson seems to find a way to beat him and I see that trend continuing.
