Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Anett Kontaveit and Kiki Bertens have both made it the last 16 of the WTA Cincinnati Open. These two will play each other for a spot in the quarterfinals of this tournament. Both players have played very well and are in good form so we should be able to witness a very exciting and closely competed tennis match.

Anett Kontaveit has looked incredibly dominant in this tournament. The Estonian is yet to lose a set and has only lost 7 games in her 2 matches. It is clear to see Anett Kontaveit improving as a player. She was a very highly regarded junior tennis player and it can be seen that she is establishing herself as a top WTA player. Anett Kontaveit looked very good in the Rogers Cup in Montreal and although she was eliminated in the second round, it can be seen that she was hitting the ball very well. This form as continued in this tournament and if she continues to play like she has been in the past few rounds, she will be very hard to beat.

On the other side of the court, Kiki Bertens got a free pass to this stage after her second round opponent, Caroline Wozniacki, retired due to injury. The Dutch player had a deep run at the Rogers Cup and seems to be looking for another deep run in this tournament. Bertens impressed in the first round as she won in straight sets but looked the weaker player in the second round until the Wozniacki’s injury. This match will be a big chance for Kiki Bertens to make another quarter-final but it will be tough since she is playing a very strong opponent.

All in all, I am predicting Anett Kontaveit to win. The Estonian has looked incredibly composed and calm. Furthermore, Anett Kontaveit is also hitting the ball very cleanly and I think she is in good enough form to win this match with ease.
