Toronto, Ontario, Canada
The Line: -- Over/Under:
Dutch tennis superstar, Kiki Bertens has made it into the third round at the 2019 WTA Rogers Cup in Toronto. Kiki Bertens will compete against Bianca Andreescu for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Bianca Andreescu had to battle for 3 sets to win her previous match. It was a determined performance by Andreescu as she lost the first set but fought back strongly to win the final 2 sets and the match. During the victory, Bianca Andreescu impressed with her receiving as she won 51% of her receiving points which allowed her to win 8 return games. While the returning was exceptional, Andreescu struggled with her serve as she lost 6 service games. With Bertens as her opponent in this match, Bianca Andreescu must improve her serve if she wishes to compete.
Bianca Andreescu has received the support from the crowd as she is playing on home soil. While Bertens should be a big challenge, Bianca Andreescu should be boosted by the crowd.
On the other side of the coin, Kiki Bertens was dominant during her previous match as she won in straight sets. It was an emphatic display by Bertens as she won 100% of her service games and 3 return games. Kiki Bertens only lost 3 games in the entire match. It has been a very strong season for Kiki Bertens and she has secured herself a place in the top 10. Considering the form she currently has, Kiki Bertens will be very tough to stop in this tournament.
This will be the first time that Kiki Bertens and Bianca Andreescu will be playing each other at a WTA event.
Bianca Andreescu holds the hopes of the fans but I see the crowd being disappointed as Kiki Bertens eliminated the Canadian. Bertens has been playing on a different level over the past 12 months and she seems very tough to stop in most tournaments. Bertens is an elite player and I see her being too strong for Bianca Andreescu.
