The Line: -- Over/Under:
Kiki Bertens and Elena Rybakina meet in the semifinals of the 2019 tennis Libema Open.
Kiki Bertens is coming off a straight sets win over Natalia Vikhlyantseva that took 18 games to decide. In the victory, Bertens won 82 percent of her first serve points and 57 percent of her second serve points. Bertens won 72 percent of her total service points and converted on three of her three break points. Bertens got 61 percent of her first serves in play and didn’t face a single break point. Bertens seems to have put that easy exit in the French Open behind her, as she’s won all six sets this tournament and her serve seems to be getting sharper with each performance. Bertens looks to make her third final appearance of the year and the 12th final appearance of her career. Bertens has won seven of her last eight matches on grass court.
Elena Rybakina is coming off a straight sets win over Kirsten Flipkens that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Rybakina won 79 percent of her first serve points and 54 percent of her second serve points. Rybakina won 70 percent of her total service points and converted on two of her six break points. Rybakina got 66 percent of her first serves in play and saved all four of her break points. Rybakina has yet to drop a set this tournament and has produced a combined 10 breaks. At just 19 years old, this is easily the best Rybakina has looked in a main tour event. Rybakina looks to make her first ever WTA final appearance. Rybakina has won her last five matches on grass court.
There’s no match history between these two players.
Rybakina is a young player who has beaten some quality competition to get to this point. However, Bertens in her current form is capable of beating anybody, especially somebody with little experience on the pro level. Bertens has been very consistent with her serve this tournament and will pounce on any opening Rybakina provides. Nerves tend to get the best of young players once you get deep into tournaments.
Bertens makes her third final of the year in straight sets.
