German tennis player, Laura Siegemund has made it into the second round of the 2019 WTA Internationaux de Strasbourg in France.

At this stage of the tournament, Siegemund will play against Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus. Aryna Sabalenka was dominant in her opening match as she won in straight sets. It was an emphatic win by Sabalenka as she only lost 1 game in the entire match. During the win, Aryna Sabalenka won 75% of the points played which showed that she was in supreme touch. It has been a poor season for Aryna Sabalenka as she has not made any deep runs in many months. That being said, Sabalenka looked very impressive in her opening round win and she should be confident in her ability to win this match.

On the other side of the coin, Laura Siegemund also won her previous match in straight sets. It was a closer contest for Siegemund as she won her opening set 6-4 and the second set via a tiebreaker. During the win, Laura Siegemund impressed with her serving as she won 60% of her service points which allowed her to win 75% of her service games. Laura Siegemund also won 4 break points.

This is expected to be a much tougher match for Siegemund as she is playing against the number 2 seed. Laura Siegemund and Aryna Sabalenka have played each other once in the past. The match was played earlier in the season at the Fed Cup where Sabalenka won in straight sets. The previous match between Sabalenka and Siegemund was played on an indoor hard court. Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Sabalenka to win this match.

Sabalenka is the stronger player and after her emphatic opening round win, she looks to be back to good form.
