Markéta Vondroušová vs Lesia Tsurenko
|Date & Time||Monday September 3, 2018, 7:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Markéta Vondroušová +162/ Lesia Tsurenko -200 -- Over/Under:
Czech teenager, Markéta Vondroušová will be playing Lesia Tsurenko from Ukraine in the fourth round of the 2018 WTA US Open.
Markéta Vondroušová beat Kiki Bertens in the third round in a match where both players were very poor. This can be seen by the fact that a total of 15 double faults occurred during the match. Furthermore, neither Kiki Bertens nor Markéta Vondroušová could hold serve well as a total of 10 service games were broken. The concerning point for Markéta Vondroušová will be the fact that she hit 10 of the 15 double faults and had her service broken 6 times. That being said, Markéta Vondroušová needs to be commended for taking advantage of the mistakes made by her opponent as the Czech teenager manager to win points when needed. Markéta Vondroušová will know that she must improve since she can’t afford to get her service broken 6 times Tsurenko and still hope to win. This is the furthest Markéta Vondroušová has ever gone in the US Open.
Lesia Tsurenko has had a very strong US Open having beaten number 2 seed, Caroline Wozniacki in the second round. In the third round, Lesia Tsurenko beat Kateřina Siniakova in straight sets. Lesia Tsurenko was very dominant in her third round victory as she on lost 4 games in the entire match. Tsurenko was very impressive receiving serve as she managed to break serve 5 times. Furthermore, Lesia Tsurenko won more points receiving than Siniakova won serving. Lesia Tsurenko was also very solid serving as she only allowed her opponent to break serve once. Lesia Tsurenko’s game looks very strong following that win and she will look to capitalize that and make it further into the tournament than she has done in the past.
This is the first time that Lesia Tsurenko and Markéta Vondroušová be playing against each other.
All in all, I am going to predict Lesia Tsurenko to win this match. Markéta Vondroušová has been making too many errors while Tsurenko is playing very well. While neither player has had it into the quarterfinals before, Tsurenko will have the advantage in terms of experience as she has been on the professional tour for much longer than her opponent who is still very young. Lesia Tsurenko is more experienced and playing better tennis so I see her winning and making her first US Open quarterfinals.
