The Line: -- Over/Under:
The fourth rubber of the semifinal tie between France and Spain will see Pablo Carreño Busta take on Lucas Pouille. The tie is taking places in Lille meaning that the French team is playing at home.
Pablo Carreño Busta lost the first rubber of this tie as he was beaten by Benoit Paire in straight sets. It was a disappointing performance by Busta as he had 6 chances to break serve but only managed to capitalize once. Furthermore, Pablo Carreño Busta had a very bad day in terms of serving as he allowed Benoit Paire to break serve on 7 occasions meaning that the Spaniard lost more service games than he won. Pablo Carreño Busta has the potential to improve his game and display a better performance in this match but with the fans backing the French team strongly, it will be very hard for the Spaniard to bounce back.
On the other side of the coin, Lucas Pouille had a big win in the second rubber as he won a hard-fought match in 5 sets. Pouille’s biggest asset in that victory was his serving as he managed to hit 19 aces which helped him win the big points and eventually the match. The French crowd was very much behind Pouille and this was especially obvious is the 5th set when the fans produced an incredible atmosphere. A similar situation should be expected for this match as the French team verge on making another Davis Cup final.
All in all, I am picking Lucas Pouille to win this match. Busta struggled in his opening match and with the French crowd getting behind their team, it will be hard for the Spaniard to turn things around. Lucas Pouille is playing with great freedom, serving well and has the crowd behind him so that should be enough to secure the victory.
