Madison Keys and Carla Suarez Navarro meet in the third round of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

Madison Keys is coming off a three set win over Kristina Mladenovic that took 38 games to decide. Keys played a draining match that took seven games to win each set and a thrilling tiebreak in the third set. Even in such a tough match, Keys has shown recently that she’s more comfortable in pressure moments and doesn’t allow errors to takeover matches like the past. Keys is quickly growing up before our eyes and her confidence is through the roof at the moment. As long as Keys can control her nerves and make the big shots more times than not, she’ll be in good shape in this match. Keys has won 10 of her last 12 matches on hard court.

Carla Suarez Navarro is coming off a straight sets win over Ana Konjuh that took 22 games to decide. Suarez Navarro has now won her last four sets in this tournament and looks comfortable out there on the court, especially after sending a quality player home in Ana Ivanović in the first round. Suarez Navarro is a tough out when she’s hitting her winners and using her power to her advantage, something she did in her second round victory. Suarez Navarro is now 3-2 in olympic play and a win here would be huge for her moving forward in terms of what she’s already accomplished this season. Suarez Navarro has won seven of her last nine matches on hard court.

These two have met twice in the past and Keys has won both meetings, both in three sets. The matches took place in this year's Birmingham Classic and the 2013 Toray Pan Pacific Open.

Keys continues to turn the corner and is looking more and more like a player who will be competing for grand slam titles in no time. Keys is simply tough to beat against right now and we’re not going to do it here, especially with the head to head being what it is.

Look for Keys to advance yet again.
