Dusan Lajovic meets Marco Cecchinato in the first-round of the 2020 Rio Open.
Dusan Lajovic has reached his peak level. Lajovic had an incredible 2019 season, reaching the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters and being able to compete with the best in the world. In 2020, Lajovic was able to put on incredible performances in the ATP Cup, helping Team Serbia to win the tournament. Dusan Lajovic has an incredible serve and a superb one-handed backhand. Lajovic has the confidence to have an amazing 2020 and he will want to begin right here in Rio. How far will Lajovic go in 2020?
Marco Cecchinato is a name we haven't heard of in a while. The 2018 Roland Garros semifinalist has really gone off the rails. He was once one of the most exciting prospects on clay but I believe he has let the hype get to his head. Cecchinato is incredibly talented, but nothing substitutes hard work. If Cecchinato wants to get back to where he used to be and be able to challenge in the biggest tournaments, he needs to sort out his mindset and work extremely hard.
This will be second meeting between both players, with Cecchinato having won their prior encounter. Although Cecchinato leads the H2H, I do not see the same Cecchinato existing anymore. Lajovic is in much better form and he is more confident than Cecchinato. Lajovic will come out and give Cecchinato a reality check and maybe this will help Cecchinato get his tennis back on track for 2020.
Dusan Lajovic to win.
