Marco Cecchinato vs Jaume Munar - 2/7/2019 ATP Tour - Cordoba Open Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Italian tennis superstar, Marco Cecchinato is set to play against Jaume Munar in the second round of the 2019 ATP Cordoba Open in Argentina.

Marco Cecchinato received an opening round bye due to his high seeding. Marco Cecchinato started the 2019 season off very strongly as he made the semifinals of the ATP Qatar Open in January. While Marco Cecchinato has not been as solid since Qatar, the Italian superstar will be excited about returning to clay courts where he has been very successful in the past. Marco Cecchinato has proven his ability on clay in the past as he has won 2 ATP titles on this surface while also making the semifinals of the French Open in 2018. Cecchinato is the number 2 seed for this tournament and he should feel confident in his ability to win this game.

On the other side of the court, Jaume Munar won his opening round fixture in straight sets. It was a dominant display by Munar as he won 89% of his service games. Furthermore, Jaume Munar won 41% of his receiving points which allowed him to win 4 break points. Jaume Munar is only 21 and he has been very impressive this season as he made the quarterfinals of the Maharashtra Open. That being said, it is going to be tough for Munar to compete against Marco Cecchinato, especially on clay.

This match is going to be the first time that Marco Cecchinato and Jaume Munar will be playing each other

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Marco Cecchinato to win this game. Munar has been playing very well recently but he lacks the experience of Cecchinato. Furthermore, Marco Cecchinato is a much stronger player that Jaume Munar on clay. With that in mind, I see Marco Cecchinato making the third round of this tournament with comfort.
