Marco Cecchinato vs Tomas Berdych 2019 Qatar Open Tennis Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

Czech tennis superstar, Tomas Berdych has made it into the semi-finals of the 2018 ATP Qatar Open in Doha. Berdych will be playing the number 4 seed, Marco Cecchinato from Italy.

Marco Cecchinato enters this match having won his quarterfinal match in straight sets. During the win, Marco Cecchinato served exceptionally well as he won over 75% of the points played during his serve. This allowed Cecchinato to win all of his service games which was essential in ensuring the Italian was always leading the match. Marco Cecchinato’s receiving of serve was also solid as the number 4 seed won 21 return points and 2 return games. It was a well-rounded performance by Marco Cecchinato and he will look to continue that in this fixture.

On the other side of the coin, Tomas Berdych has also been playing well as he has already beaten Fernando Verdasco. In his previous match, Berdych played exceptionally well as he won in straight sets. In the win, Tomas Berdych won all of his service games while breaking his opponents serve 3 times. The serve was particularly impressive as Berdych won over 77% of the points played during his own service games. Berdych has been on the ATP tour for around 15 years and his experience will be vital in semi-final match such as this.

This will be the first time that Marco Cecchinato and Tomas Berdych will be playing against each other at an ATP event.

This should be a very interesting contest as both Marco Cecchinato and Tomas Berdych will enter this fixture with the expectation of winning. With that in mind, I am going to pick Tomas Berdych to win this match. Both players are playing well but I see Berdych’s experience getting him over the line and into the final of the tournament.

Pick:
Tomas Berdych
