The Line: -- Over/Under:
Marin Cilic and Roberto Bautista Agut meet in the fourth round of the 2017 Wimbledon.
Marin Cilic is coming off a straight sets win over Steve Johnson that took 33 games to decide. In the victory, Cilic won 81 percent of his first serve points and 69 percent of his second serve points. Cilic still hasn’t dropped a set this tournament and has lost just 27 first serve points in his first three matches overall. When Cilic is hitting his spots and dominating his service game with ease, he’s very tough to beat, as it puts pressure on his opponent to do the same to stay in the match. Cilic hopes to make his 10th career grand slam quarterfinal. Cilic hopes to make the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon for a fourth straight appearance. Cilic has won seven of his last eight matches on grass court.
Roberto Bautista Agut is coming off a four sets win over Kei Nishikori that took 41 games to decide. In the victory, Bautista Agut won 75 percent of his first serve points and 47 percent of his second serve points. Bautista Agut won 37 percent of his return points and gave himself 11 break chances to beat his fourth top-10 player since 2016. Bautista Agut has dropped two sets this tournament and has won no less than 37 percent of his return points, giving him 47 break chances overall in his first three matches. That’s a winning formula for the 29-year-old Spaniard if he can keep it up. Bautista Agut hopes to make his first ever grand slam quarterfinal. Bautista Agut has won five of his last six matches on grass court.
These two have played three times and Cilic has won two of those meetings. The most recent match was in the 2016 Australian Open, a match Bautista Agut won in three sets. This will be the first match on grass.
Bautista Agut has a chance here considering he’s been sharp with the return and just beat a top-10 player in impressive fashion. The problem is Cilic hasn’t had the same dips in his game that Nishikori has had this season, and his serve has been downright ridiculous. Bautista Agut will have a hard time keeping up with Cilic throughout a five set match.
Cilic reaches his fourth straight Wimbledon quarters.
