The Line: -- Over/Under:
Marton Fucsovics and Cameron Norrie meet in the second round of the 2019 tennis Monte Carlo.
Marton Fucsovics is coming off a three sets win over Nikoloz Basilashvili that took 28 games to decide. In the victory, Fucsovics won 74 percent of his first serve points and 59 percent of his second serve points. Fucsovics won 67 percent of his total service points and converted on three of his 20 break points. Fucsovics really struggled with his second serve, but winning 42 percent of his total return points and giving himself 20 break points is nothing to sneeze at. Fucsovics certainly gives himself a chance to advance even further if he can repeat such an effort. Fucsovics has a chance to win at least two matches for the fourth time in his last six tournaments. Fucsovics has split his last four matches on clay court.
Cameron Norrie is coming off a straight sets win over Adrian Mannarino that took 19 games to decide. In the victory, Norrie won 87 percent of his first serve points and 50 percent of his second serve points. Norrie won 72 percent of his total service points and converted on three of his seven break points. Norrie enters this tournament on a four-match losing streak, which included losing eight of his last nine sets, so the victory was much needed. Norrie can still be a bit more consistent with his second serve, but he won a match in less than an hour and a half and didn’t face a break point. Norrie now looks to win back-to-back matches for the first time since Acapulco. Norrie has split his last six matches on clay court.
There’s no match history between these two players.
Both of these players have had their ups and downs lately, but I think it’s fair to say that Fucsovics is playing the better and more consistent tennis at the moment. Fucsovics has made some decent runs in tournaments lately and has been feisty with his return. Outside of his opening victory, Norrie has struggled to win a single set his last several matches.
I give Fucsovics the slight edge here.
