Seppi vs. Raonic
|Date & Time||Wednesday June 29, 2016, 9:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line -- Over/Under:
Milos Raonic and Andreas Seppi square off early in the second round of the 2016 Wimbledon.
Milos Raonic is coming off a straight sets win over Pablo Carreno Busta that took less than two hours. In the victory, Raonic won 67 of 94 first serve points and racked up 58 winners to 22 unforced errors. Raonic continues his great form that started when he made the finals in the Queen's Club Championships, and he’s won 10 of his last 12 sets. Raonic is piling up the winners and winning a high percentage of his first serve points. Raonic is dangerous in his current form and when he’s hitting his spots. Raonic hasn’t lost before the third round of a grand slam since the 2013 Wimbledon. Raonic has won seven of his last nine matches on grass.
Andreas Seppi is coming off a straight sets win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez that took an hour and a half. In the victory, Seppi won 51 of his 79 first serve points and racked up 31 winners to 20 unforced errors. Seppi is now starting to find his form in singles play, as he’s won six of his last eight matches and is still inside the top-50 in the rankings. Seppi did make the semifinals in Nottingham and is probably playing his best tennis of the season at this very moment. However, Seppi will have to play at an even higher level to win this match. Seppi hopes to make the third round of a grand slam for the sixth time since 2014. Seppi has won eight of his last 12 matches on grass.
These two have played once in the past, which was in the 2013 Canada vs. Italy, a match Raonic won in four sets. This will be the first match on grass.
This is an interesting match with the way Seppi has been playing the past couple of weeks. He’s not the same player we saw earlier in the season. Although when it’s all said and done, Raonic is the better player and will be putting a ton of pressure on Seppi with his service game.
Give me Raonic in four sets.
