Milos Raonic and Dennis Novak meet in the third round of the 2018 tennis Wimbledon.
Milos Raonic is coming off a straight sets win over John Millman that took 39 games to decide. In the victory, Raonic won 63 percent of his first serve points and 72 percent of his second serve points. Raonic managed to win three straight tiebreaks to advance to the third round, and he hit 67 winners while winning 76 percent of his total service points. It was another brilliant performance from Raonic, who has really picked things up as of late on grass court. If Raonic is going to spray this many winners and can serve at this level the rest of the way, he’s in a great position to make a run at a grand slam title. Raonic hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the seventh time in his last nine tries. Raonic has won six of his last eight matches on grass court.
Dennis Novak is coming off a five sets win over Lucas Pouille that took 48 games to decide. In the victory, Novak won 71 percent of his first serve points and 61 percent of his second serve points. Novak almost blew his second round victory after needing five sets to win despite having a 2-0 set lead from the beginning. Novak managed to hit 50 winners and won 68 percent of his total service points, which was quite impressive. Novak is quietly turning some heads with his play, but you have to question how much he has left in the tank after such a lengthy five setter and playing five matches overall to get to this point. Novak has a chance to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time in his career at 24 years old. Novak has won five straight matches on grass court.
This will be the first ever meeting between these two players.
Novak has picked up valuable experience, but he’s not experienced enough to make a deeper run against such a quality player. Raonic is playing his best tennis of the year right now and is a dark horse champion if he can continue to serve at this level. Raonic has been arguably the most impressive player in the tournament two matches deep.
Raonic wins this match in straight sets.
