The Line: -- Over/Under:
Felix Auger-Aliassime and Milos Raonic meet in the semifinals of the 2019 tennis Stuttgart Open.
Felix Auger-Aliassime is coming off a three sets win over Dustin Brown that took 39 games to decide. In the victory, Auger-Aliassime won 83 percent of his first serve points and 59 percent of his second serve points. Auger-Aliassime won 75 percent of his total service points and converted on one of his three break points. Auger-Aliassime got 66 percent of his first serves in play, hit 30 aces and came through in the third set with a break when being down a match point. Auger-Aliassime has been serving at a very high level Auger-Aliassime hopes to make his third final appearance of the year and of his career. Auger-Aliassime has won his last three matches on grass court.
Milos Raonic is coming off a straight sets win over Marton Fucsovics that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Raonic won 89 percent of his first serve points and 61 percent of his second serve points. Raonic won 79 percent of his total service points and converted on two of his two break points. Raonic got 66 percent of his first serves in play and saved his only break point. Raonic is clearly starting to find his form given that he enters this tournament not playing a match since Miami. As long as Raonic is hitting his spots with his serve, he’s going to be tough to beat at this point. Raonic hopes to make his first final appearance since last years Stuttgart Open and the 23rd final appearance of his career. Raonic has won seven of his last eight matches on grass court.
These two have played once, which was in last years Indian Wells, a match Raonic won in straight sets. The match took 20 games to be decided.
Auger-Aliassime has the ability to win this match if he’s going to continue piling up so many free points with his serve, but he’s still a very young player who leaves the door open for his opponent. He just did it in the quarterfinals. Against quality players such as Raonic, it’s going to come back to bite him. In a match where breaks will be few and far between, give me the more experienced player.
Raonic makes his first final of the year.
