Struff vs. Raonic
|Date & Time||Monday July 3, 2017, 9:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Raonic -700 / Struff +500 -- Over/Under:
Milos Raonic and Jan-Lennard Struff meet in the first round of the 2017 Wimbledon.
Milos Raonic has just one grass court match under his belt this season, but he brings a 16-6 career record at the Wimbledon. Raonic ha struggled with his return in each of his last two matches, but he did make last years Wimbledon final, and this is his second most successful grand slam. Its no secret that Raonic has one of the top serves in the world, and when he’s on, he’s one of the tougher players in the world to beat. As long as Raonic is hitting his spots and his serve is on point, he’s a threat to make another deep Wimbledon run. Raonic hasn’t lost in the first round of a grand slam since the 2011 French Open. Raonic has won six of his last eight matches on grass court.
Jan-Lennard Struff enters this tournament with a 1-2 record on grass and has lost five of his last six matches overall. Struff is coming off a match in Halle in which he won 91 percent of his first serve points, but he had seven double faults and struggled with his return, which is the reason he lost in three sets. If Struff can continue to serve a high percentage without the errors, he has a shot here. Struff hopes to make the second round of a grand slam for the fourth time in his career. Struff is 1-4 in his career during matches at the Wimbledon. Struff has lost five of his last six matches on grass court.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
Struff has a chance to make this match interesting if he can get a high number of first serves in play. The problem is Struff has had little to no success in grand slam play and has a weak second serve that a player like Raonic will eat alive.
Raonic wins this match in three competitive sets.
