The Line: -- Over/Under:
Milos Raonic and Juan Martin Del Potro meet in the quarterfinals of the tennis 2018 Miami Open.
Milos Raonic is coming off a straight sets win over Jeremy Chardy that took 19 games to decide. In the victory, Raonic won 85 percent of his first serve points and 53 percent of his second serve points. Raonic has now won 12 of his last 16 sets and is looking more and more like the player of old, as he dropped 12 aces and won 73 percent of his service points in his fourth round victory. When Raonic is getting his first serve in play and hitting his spots with confidence, he’s capable of beating anybody on any given day, it just comes down to consistency with the Canadian. Raonic hopes to make the semifinals of the Miami Open for the first time. Raonic has split his last eight quarterfinal matches. Raonic has matches on hard court.
Juan Martin Del Potro is coming off a straight sets win over Filip Krajinovic that took 18 games to decide. In the victory, Del Potro won 78 percent of his first serve points and 55 percent of his second serve points. Del Potro continues what has been a ridiculous start to the 2018 season, as he hasn’t lost a match since Delray Beach and is fresh off a performance in which he won 70 percent of his service points. Del Potro is healthy and is just oozing with confidence, which is a scary sight for the rest of the field. Del Potro hopes to make the semifinals of the Miami Open for the second time in his career and first time since 2009. Del Potro has won seven of his last eight quarterfinal matches. Del Potro has won 14 straight matches on hard court.
These two have split their four meetings, with Del Potro winning the most recent match in this years Indian Wells Masters, a match he won in straight sets. All four meetings have bee decided in straight sets.
Raonic has been solid as of late and always has a shot when cranking his serve. But I don’t think betting against Del Potro in his current form is a good idea. Del Potro is playing the best tennis of his life right now, which includes winning 25 of his last 29 sets played. He’s not a guy to step in front of right now.
Del Potro reaches the Miami Open semifinals for the first time since 2009.
