Milos Raonic vs. Nick Kyrgios 2015 Wimbledon Tennis Pick, Odds, Prediction

Milos Raonic and Nick Kyrgios square off Friday in the third round of the 2015 Wimbledon.

Milos Raonic is coming off a four set victory over Tommy Haas, which took just over two and a half hours. Raonic is getting 78 percent of his first serves in play and winning more than 80 percent of those points. Raonic has won at least 49 percent of his second serve points and has produced 10 double faults. Raonic has combined for 54 aces, 109 winners and 66 unforced errors in his first two matches. Raonic has been on fire with his serve in this tournament, which includes one serve that clocked 145 mph. You’d still like to see Raonic trim the unforced errors a little, but you learn to deal with them as long as he’s still hitting the ball well. Raonic has reached at least the fourth round in his last four grand slam appearances.

Nick Kyrgios is fresh off a straight sets victory over Juan Monaco, which took just over an hour and a half. Kyrgios is getting at last 57 percent of his first serves in play and has won 80 or more percent of those points. Kyrgios is winning 61 percent of his second serve points and has seven double faults. Kyrgios has combined for 28 aces, 71 winners and 35 unforced errors in the first two matches. Kyrgios is also hitting the ball hard and accurate through his first two matches and has played just three total hours of tennis. Kyrgios has shown very little weakness up to this point. Kyrgios has reached at least the fourth round in two of his last four grand slam appearances.

These two have met twice in the past, and Raonic has won both meetings. The most recent meeting was in last year’s Wimbledon, a match Raonic won in four sets. Raonic also beat him in last year’s French Open. This will be the second time these two meet on grass.

I like both of these players and see this match being more of a toss up, as it really comes down to whoever is hitting winners and getting the first serve in play. Still, Raonic is the better overall player and has proven that lately.

Milos Raonic -2.5
