It is a rematch between Miomir Kecmanovic and Ugo Humbert as the pair meet exactly one week later in the second-round of the 2020 Delray Beach Open. Will the outcome be the same, or will Humbert finally win against Kecmanovic?
Miomir Kecmanovic is continuously improving and he is a very underrated player on tour. Kecmanovic has a soldi 2019 season, booking him a spot in the NextGen ATP Finals in Milan. Kecmanovic impressed in Milan, and his 2020 season has been great. Kecmanovic has no pressure as he has everything to gain, and nothing to lose. This lack of pressure is dangerous for his opponents because it allows Kecmanovic to play freely and back himself. Kecmanovic did not play too much here in Delray Beach as his first-round opponent, Jordan Thompson, retired after losing the first set. Kecmanovic now looks at his second-round opponent with some confidence.
Ugo Humbert has had an incredible start to 2020. The Frenchman has already won one title in 2020 and has been able to compete with some consistency. Humbert came through a hard-fought match against Stefan Kozlov in the first-round, eventually beating the American in three sets. Humbert had a bad serving day on his second-serve, only winning 48% of points. This cannot continue for Humbert if he wants to go far here in Delray Beach, especially as he meets an opponent who he has never beaten.
This will be the fourth meeting between both players, and unfortunately for Humbert, he has never beaten Kecmanovic before. Just last week, Kecmanovic beat Humbert in three sets in New York and he looks to do even better here in Delray Beach. In my opinion, Kecmanovic will win this match, he is fresher, he is more confident and unlike Humbert, his serve seems to be on point.
Miomir Kecmanovic to win.
