Naomi Osaka vs. Donna Vekic - 4/26/19 Stuttgart Open Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Japanese tennis superstar, Naomi Osaka has made the quarterfinals of the 2019 WTA Stuttgart Open. Osaka will now face Donna Vekic from Croatia.

Naomi Osaka looked in supreme form in the previous round as she won her match in straight sets. During the win, Naomi Osaka served exceptionally well as the Japanese superstar won 64% of her service points which resulted in her winning all of her service games. Osaka also returned well as she won 3 break points. It has been a very strong season for Naomi Osaka as she started the year by winning the Australian Open.

On the other side of the coin, Donna Vekic also won her previous match in straight sets. Vekic was very impressive while receiving serve as the Croatian won 54% of her receiving points. Vekic won 6 return games and 7 service games to ensure she won the match. The last tournament where Donna Vekic impressed was the WTA Mexican Open where she made the semifinals. This will be a very tough match for Donna Vekic as she is playing the top-ranked player in the world.

Naomi Osaka and Donna Vekic have played once in the past. The match was played in 2016 in Melbourne at the Australian Open. It was a comfortable match for Naomi Osaka as she won in straight sets.

Donna Vekic has impressed this season but she will enter this match as a massive underdog. With that in mind, I am going to pick Naomi Osaka to win this match. Osaka is the top seed and she has been the best player in the world since the US Open last year. Naomi Osaka looked in very good form in the opening round and I see her continuing her winning way by beating Donna Vekic and making the semifinals.
